MacPoint beeps when displaying a message addressed to you,
unless you're using the "display only mail addressed to me" option.
MacPoint supports ^_real underlining_^ too!

With MacPoint 0.99, you can receive private NetMail messages and
reply to them if sysop has authorized. I think you can initiate
NetMail messages too but I haven't had a chance to test this.

Now it is possible for any MacPoint user to transmit a small
graphic image in an ordinary BBS message, using the "BBS Pix"
program by Chris Thiel. Now if you want to send a bitmapped
illustration, it can be done!

Just ask your sysop to add a line to his batch file that will move
the incoming packets from his QMX directory to his incoming mail
directory - the same thing he has to do now for the compressed
mailbags. Only difference is the name as far as this is concerned!
BTW, try it on my system, I think it should work the way I have it set up.

Good to hear that 0.98 has continued to work out the quirks.
ZTerm's auto- upload selection helps a lot too. What smooth
integration we have here :) The only thing I'd like to see at this
point (no pun) with MacPoint is having it in a language that can
recognize update events! It's a bother to swap to another program
while in MultiFinder, and then to return to MacPoint and not have
the screen update completely. Mainly the message text gets lost.
The other thing I'd like (as I wrote in my registration) is a
scroll-back buffer, either for an individual message or for the
whole stream of messages. Something more like we are used to with
ZTerm, MicroPhone, RR/WK, etc.

I have yet to see a Fidonet mailer that couldn't handle incomming
ARC 5.12 mail. There have been mailer setups that could not perform
any sort of outbound compression.
Uncompressed is the minimum standard, and should stay that way.
Fidonet standards should be the least common denominator, with
deviations negotiated on a case by case basis. If there are problems
with determining what archive standards a remote system supports,
that should be handled with a nodelist flag, much as things like
file request methods available, or CM is currently handled.
